There are regulations for parking in certain County parking lots and if you violate any of these parking regulations, you may be issued a parking ticket/citation.

Note: The process below only applies to parking tickets/citations issued by the County or the CHP in County lots, not parking tickets/citations issued by other agencies or in other locations.

The process for County parking tickets/citations is as follows:

  1. A parking ticket/citation will be left on your windshield.
  2. If you agree with the citation, follow the instructions on the ticket/citation to pay your fine.

Protesting a Ticket/Citation

If you do not agree with the ticket/citation, instead of paying the ticket/citation you can contest the citation online.

To pay or contest online, please visit www.paymycite.com/kerncounty. You must request a review within 14 days of receipt of the ticket/citation. Warning: Failure to pay the citation may result in collection efforts.

You may also download the Request for Initial Review Form:

Please complete the form and mail to:

Parking Citation Services Center
PO Box 11923
Santa Ana, CA 92711

For more information, please call (800) 355-8687.

Your protest will be evaluated and the results of the Initial Review request will be mailed through the US Mail notifying you as to whether the ticket/citation was upheld or dismissed. If you receive a denial of your protest, you may pay the original fine without any late penalties by the deadline stated in the denial letter.

Appealing the Initial Review

If you do not agree with the results of the review, you can request a hearing. Please visit www.paymycite.com/kerncounty. Click on the Contest Citation tab to learn how to request a hearing.
